I am gearing up to rebuild this cz 2004r. Right now I am gathering all the parts I will need and replace. I will be using ck's recalibration kit and a 111 or 112 servo. I have both but I am debating on whether I should waste the 112 on this trans. It will only be bolted to a sbc 350. I believe I have a hardened sun shell already but the stator will need to be replaced. As for the input shaft do I have the updated better one or is this the junk one? As for the direct drum I have a few worries and questions. At the top of the drum in photo direct2 the tangs seems to have a cavern inside them. I used a depth mic and they are about 75 thousands deep inside the tang. What is your opinions on this drum? If this is too much wear what would cause the sun shell to do this much damage? Love learning about transmission because I know the least about them. Thank You for all your help. I am sure I will have more questions.

need a new direct drum. mine looks like that also... i got a new one from ck for 55.00 and the rebuild kit for 450.00. just got the guts done today, and going to look in the pump tomarrow, and then the shift recalabration kit next weekend.

all the snap rings are a pain to put back on. and lining up the clutch packs are a pain also.

The direct drum is junk. Its blue and the area where the sun shell engages is really worn. Stator support is also crap. The shell was hardened in the area where the splines on the shaft engage on late 85 and up. The input looks stock. Bushing in the rear ring gear is shot also. I cn see it in the pic of the drum that shows the worn tang engagement area.

Thank you for the replys. Great help. This place is a true asset. Everyone here is willing to help others. I just need a little more clarification on the input shaft. Yes it is stock but I read on this board there are two versions of the stock input. I can tell if I have the "blind spline" or "groove". Quote "INPUT SHAFT:
There are two designs of input shafts stock. First is the "blind spline" type. With these, the planet splines kinda spline into the bearing journal . The other has a distinct "grove" between splines and journal. The "blind spline" one is stronger but their limit is about 600 ft lbs of torque."

Also I noticed the governor only has one spring. I did not find another spring in the trans but I do know the trans has been opened before me. Is this correct or am I missing a spring? Does not seem correct to the larger wieght is just flapping free but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time or the last time.:) :)

FWIW, the 111 servo is the same apply area as the sonnax super servo. Unless you are putting a lot of power through it, it will probably suffice, and if you are diligent enough you can probably resell the 112 for what i'm selling both of them to you for. :) LOL
