Bought a fresh short block that had these bearings in it:

Mains are marked: Clevite 77 B-1 6-00 MB2434P (lower)
F Clevite 77 5-00 MB2433P (upper)

Rods are marked: A Clevite 77 5-00 CB1228P

all are .010 undersized

Assuming the clearances mic out between .0015 to .002 are these bearings good enough?

Also, should the clearances be the same w/the 3/4 groove Main bearings that are available now?

I think the P is for passenger where H is high performance. Considering most performance bearings are discontinued you are limited in choices and Clevites are decent so go with it.

Anyone else?

Is Intercooler correct? I thought the P could mean Passenger or Performance. How can you tell which it is? Motor going together soon, need to know for sure.

P is for passenger. You can call Clevite tech line and ask them. I did it last week. They recommended the P bearing for daily driver and weekend cruisers occasional dragstrip. H bearing for Hardcore or regular racing.

WE need to know your plans for the car to say if they are good enough. If you run the car with a smart tune on it they should be fine. Frank

"Smart tune"?

Frank,
Like everyone else I hope to tune for ZERO knock especially once I get the alky injection dialed in. But also, being realistic, knock happens to all of us at some time or another. I think y'all have answered my question already. Maybe what I should ask now is what would be a Better or maybe even the Best bearings for this thing. It's at the machine shop now, got screwed on the short block (bores are too big for the stock pistons that were in it but that's another story) so at this point what's another set of bearings if I can get something better than these. After all, it's just money, right??!?!

Thanks

Clevite 77 "P" series will be fine and no need to change them. A few local racers have gone a few seasons of low 11's/mid 10's with them and no failures.

I actually called and tried to find the "H" series when I did my engine and they were no longer available. I may be wrong on that. But I had my engine built with the "P" series and never looked back.
