1) Do these studs need to be sealed or loctited at the block threads??

2) Are the studs removable (slotted or internal hex) so that heads can be pulled with engine in chassis??

Thanks, Bob

Thanks but I read somewhere herein that at some of the studs had either a flat slot or an internal hex for removing them...at least I thought I read that?? I'll discuss with ARP.

Thanks again, Bob

Mine don't...

Just seal up the block-side of the studs for leaks, and double-nut them if you want them off. You don't put studs in monster tight, so it shouldn't be an issue...

I don't have A/C on my car either. I've had the heads off a few times with the motor in the car. I was hesitant at first on the whole headstud issue, but I'm glad they're on there now...

The newer ARP studs

Have a allen headed top to remove them. I just seen a set last tuesday at a friends house.

The last set of head studs I got for a stock v-6 , a few weeks ago ,had internal hex in the long studs for easy removal .

ARP recomends installing the studs hand tight , I use a sealer on the block side to prevent coolant seepage , oil or arp lube on the upper threads and washers for proper torque #'s

Thanks guys...think I'm gonna go with studs...seems the best approach.
