Customer buys one of their 9.5" Non-Lock converters while I'm building his engine. Long story short the converter doesn't fit, as the input shaft bottoms out in the converter before the converter engages the pump correctly. Their fix... Hack off the end of the input shaft!! What kind of $h!t is this!! I have a PTC non-lock, Muti-disc Vigilante, and a stock D-5, sitting on the bench and none of them need the input shaft hacked off.

They want a 15% re-stock fee and the customer to pay for return shipping!! And some chick that claims to be the owner, with an attitude!! Where's the customer service these days??

Guess the restocking fee is how they make their money.
'nother reason to use a Buick vendor.

Customer Service

Thats just 1 of the reasons Art Carr has nothing to do with that company except the owners bought the company with the rights to keep his name on it. I'm sure he'd love to hear another one of their horror stories. Art's a very nice fellow. After the owners started use cheap parts, overcharging and screwing customers he'd had enough and started anew. CPT/CaliforniaPerformanceTransmission.

Back in 79 I had ART CARR put a shift kit and RV torque converter in my truck (I was pulling a 26ft mini offshore cruiser) At 1pm on a fri before a 3 day weekend they said my truck was ready. When my wife and I arrived at 4pm to pick it up my truck was still on the rack and I was told a part did not come in on time.
Sorry you had waste over a hour driving in rush hour traffic.
They were supposed to keep the truck inside all weekend, they didnt.
When I picked up the truck I signed a receipt with carbon copies. The cashier took off the top copy and sealed the rest in a envelope.
~18 months later I remove the engine to install a 428 and my never since the factory, exc Art Carr, touched bell housing is welded up. I then open the envelope and pull out the receipts and the top copy, IN INK not carbon, was written "Repair bell housing N/C".
They never told me and didnt write it on the copy I signed and sealed my copies in a envelope. Think Art Carr was trying to hide something.
So even with new owners nothing has changed.

Just cut off the shaft. Ill send you another stocker for free. Its actually common with some converter companies to need to cut the shaft. It does nothing in a NL application anyway.

That is crap, especially if they never told you when ordering that you would need to do that mod.

A restocking fee for a converter that doesn't actually fit the application? I don't consider modding a part for something to fit as being a bolt on part but this thread will take more $$ from them in future buys to cover their ridiculous restocking fee.
