Once you start running higher boost levels does your coil pack need to be upgraded to provide a stronger spark. Alot of people(including myself) are just gapping their plugs tighter to run the higher boost, but would you gain more overall performance by upgrading your coil pack?

i've heard of the stock ignition going into the 9's so...these cars came factory with a very good igntion system

yep, pretty much never.

If it breaks, you might but, even then, it's not much of an "upgrade".

If its good enough for the 9's, why does my 11 second car need a tighter gap on the plugs? This would mean that the ignition is not strong enough to provide spark at the standard gap.

well at least you don't have to totally change it...yeah you may need to make your plugs gapped tighter but at least you don't have to spend all kinds of money on a completely new ignition system like most cars have to...

Actually the plugs are being fired but what happens is the fire can actully be blown out by forced induction systems. With as much air we have moving through these engines it is not surprising. I also run tighter gaps on my plugs. The ignition system is very hot even by race standards.
