I've had ATR's old "EMC10" ...a device that reads A/F ratios and allows for the adjusting of the car's timing "on the fly"... on my car for many years. ATR hasn't sold these for at least 5 years. I like it because I can ajust timing any time to account for the gas I have, the weather, the boost, etc...

In the past, when I changed injectors... I called them and they created an upgraded chip to compensate for the changes. I'm changing the car's engine, turbo and injectors now and they told me they no longer can do a chip for the EMC 10. My question is: is there a person I could send my chip to to have a new chip made with the same settings I have now... only making adjustments for bigger injectors, a new turbo and cam??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul

If you can't find what you're looking for with that ATR chip of yours, you can go to a MaxEffort 16 position thumbwheel with dual timing curves (one street & one race).

If memory serves me, our own Bob Bailey (TurboBob) made this EMC10 *for* ATR, and I'd guess did the chip(s) for it. I could be wrong as I understand Phil was a h4x0r. Anyway, If this is the case, I'd bet my azz Bob could set up a chip for you. If he DIDNT do them for ATR, I'd be willing to bet he could disassemble it as needed, and upgrade it to your upcoming combo. Of course, both for a fee, but what are your other options :p

Wasn't me......ATR did that one on their own.

What sort of changes are you making to the car?

ATR had some odd ideas when it came to chips, but it should be possible to get it tuned up for you.

Jim's pretty good with the chips too.... :)

Thanks for the info and help. The car will have one of the new Garrett Precision turbos, a 67, a 210 roller cam, ATR strecthed intercooler, GN1 heads and intake, 62mm throttle body and Hemco plenum & 50 lb. injectors. I have a Precision 9" lockup convertor. I'd like the chip set "fat" for the mid and top end.

I ran 11.40's with just a TE34, stretched intercooler, 36 lb blue tops and bone stock motor. I have a GS also and know that big blocks don't like a lot of top end timing so I always bumped the timing down 4° with the EMC10 to preclude detonation and althought the EMC10 seems "primative"... it worked for almost 10 years for me. Thanks. Paul

All thats necessary is to populate the airtemp vs. load vs. spark table, and then zero out the maf vs. airtemp correction table. This could be done to any chip you like. Even Jim could do it;) .

Seriously though, I would not try to modify the ecm10 chip, there is some weird wierd stuff in there (at least the chip that I have). Have one of the chip guys make a new chip and add the changes I stated above.

Paul,
Your going to need more injector, step up now and get a Max Effort or Translator and 72s.

I have that ECM-10 on my Car too. But I think that I heard that you can use any chip with it. What the ECM did was just retard the program in the Chip. But my info could be wrong. Now I use it only for the A/F Monitor.
