I have a ATR down pipe with the atr external gate. I have the adjuster almost all the way in, and can only get 16-17# of boost. how much can you get with these? thanks

are you running race gas or alky??

are you running it dual port with a manual adjuster ?

adjuster almost all the way in on what ? manual boost controler ? how did you connect it ?

On my ATR I can't go lower than 18#'s since I have the 18# spring. Maybe the spring or diaphram is busted or stuck? Have you taken it apart?

here's a pic

only has one port in the gate. has another adjuster mounted on the turbo bracket. running alky.

if you run the hose direct to that lower port the boost you see should be the spring pressure , with a bleed you can usually double the spring pressure

the spring on that is also adjustable by loosening the lock nut and turning down he center bolt it increases the tension on the spring and boost should raise

with dual port (remove the top bleed screw and add a nipple ) you can usually run double or more of spring pressure

you could remove the hose from the lower port and being careful see if you can get over 17psi, if you cant then the gate could be stuck open(how is the spoolup ? )

btw atr gates arent known for their reliability

I was running about 15#. I installed my alky kit and tried to turn it up, I turned it in about 8-10 turns, only gained 2#? spool is quick.

You may want to take the wastegate apart and check to make sure everything is in proper working order. I had the ATR set up and it did not hold up very well. The bushing bascially disappeared and the gate ended up have problems similar to what you have. The ATR gates weren't too dependable and I am amazed that there are still some out there. Mine lastest about 10K miles on an almost daily driver back in the 90's before it went south. Limit Engineering used to modify them and made them work pretty well but as far as I know no ones deals with them any more. A Tial 38MM bolts right up to the downpipe and is reasonably priced and there are other gates that bolt as well.

Rich- I turned my adjusting screw all the way in and I got 22 psi boost. I have a 6157e turbo. I don't know what spring I have. Would a different spring allow for more boost? Thanks.

I have the same wastegate and you need to use the top port like pacecartas diagram shows.Small adjustments on the regulator makes big changes in boost levels.Turning the adjustment screw on the gate did very little on mine.
