Hey everyone..... I just got my AlkyControl kit (single nozzle) and matching TT chip installed.

Car runs sooooo good & strong:biggrin: However, I am curious if anyone running Alky has played around with a little more timing? If so did it make a difference?

Or, should I just leave well enough alone and enjoy?

I know it will take more boost than what it states on the chip with no knock. I hit 25 PSI:eek: by accident while tuning in the WG rod for 23 PSI. But, it didn't knock.:)

Thanks guys.

I have the tt chip and have played with the timing settings. You can add quite a bit more in the first and second gear settings than in third and forth.Timing seems to wake my car up more than boost does.Just add it slowly a little at a time.I'm sure every car is different but its been fine for mine.

small turbos really wake up with higher timing i ran a ta49 with 23/21 timing and 23 psi and ran a 12.00 at 110 then kicked it up to 27/25 and 23 psi and ran a 11.60 at 114.

Wow. Those are some impressive gains. Braver man than I though.

I haven't really noticed any gains by adding timing. And I've gone up to 28/25 timing. Within the last couple years I've ran a stock turbo, TE44, GT6152, an a CPT70 and played around with timing on each. All of my best runs have been with lower timing such as 23/21 on alky. Adding more boost versus adding more timing seems the way to go with alky. On something like a stock turbo where there is a limit on how much boost you can run, adding timing may help, but you should be able to go high 11s with the low timing and be safer before you add timing. On something like a TA49/TE44 you can go mid 11s no problem on low timing. On the more powerful cars (10sec and faster) it seems like most people are keeping the timing low on alky while being able to run high boost.

Every car is different. You also have to understand that timing is a function of the reluctor wheel thats pressed on the balancer. It technically can be off a few degree's and nobody would ever notice.. until you start tweaking out your combo.

The way to treat timing is start low and work your way up as power increases. Once it stops making power.. back it down a notch.

Power=MPH trap speed. Same coolant temp, same track, same day, etc.

Butt dyno's wont tell a difference.
