Those with your suspension setup to handle the curves good, what kind of 60 foot times do you get at the track?

Seems like opposing theories. I had my GN set up for handling the twisties back in the late 80's ( still have the complete Ranhco shocks and adj. sway bar system stored ). In road mode, you try to limit weight transfer to keep the car level front to rear and side to side. In drag racing, you want the front to rise, and allow for weight to be transfered to the rear. You could probably get away with unbolting the front bar at the track to help with weight transfer, but the rear shocks might still be a bit stiff for optimum 60fts. Still, depending on tire selection and track conditions, you could see some decent 60 fts.

I agree on the oposing theories. A lot of guys that are only concerned with sraightline performance talk about how that suspension will hurt your 60ft. I think that if anything, it wouldn't be as good as a drag setup. With radial tires I'm in the 2.2x range. :D I figured even if I set the car up to handle a bit, 1.8's aren't too out of the question with some sticky tires.

By the way, for anyone looking at this thread, I guess I didn't mean just auto-x. I just meant a car thats setup to handle the curves decent.

1.8's MIGHT be possible, if you can loosen up the front suspension at the track. Sticky tires are a must, hopefully slicks. If the front end can't rise, your not going to 60 ft very well.

I had no problem doing 1.6's with my auto-X suspension. This was with my GN that would run 11.8's on slicks. The only thing I did for auto-X was take the air out of the bags and hook the front sway bar up. Running stock control arms, sway bar and cut down F-body springs.

Turbofish, so you loosened up the suspension ( unhooked the front sway bar ) for the track and used slicks. Sounds familar!

Yeah, someday I'm going to perfect my combo so I can just drive in to either event and run it. No swapping tires or anything else. I did run a Solo 2 on Nitto 555 DR's and the car was really stable so hopefully I can stay in the 1.6 range on DR's.

I'm pulling 2.0 60' on street tires with mine. 1.8s should be easy with drag tires of some variety.

I don't think you'll be able to pull 1.5s with a well-handling setup, but it really doesn't hurt you that much.
