Hoping to install a B&M Launch Control kit (part 46075) that I got today from Cottons. The kit also has the required fittings and right-angle line. No running around to find a 50 cent fitting.
My guess is that our cars have System B,according to the instructions. I havent crawled under to look yet. It's gotta get above 25'F here first!

Question: What is the tapered aluminum piece for? It is threaded in one end,and has 3 non-threaded,small holes in it. It looks like a cool switch holder. But the switch only screws in half way.

Question 2: Where exactly did you mount your solenoid?

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

That alum piece is the switch holder, I think for multiple locations, including the shifter stalk. A lot of guys, myself included, installed the solenoid close to the master, but that is illegal to the NHRA. It needs to be mountad AFTER the differential switch, which is on the inner frame rail about where your feet are.

EDIT: Hey, if you have the time, make it into a "how to" and include pics, install instructions, and lessons learned, to help the next guy out. ;)

I mounted mine on the driver side inner fender. Yes it's not NHRA legal. What is legal is after the prop valve. I didn't use the supplied switch and hardware. Instead I had Mark at TR custom parts send me an ashtray switch plate which is much better.

I'll try to get a pic later to help out as i see this question asked quite often.

oh yeah, I too did the momentary switch on the ashtray switch plate I made. It has the momentary switch for the line lock, and switch for fans. I wanted it out of sight.

It looks like the ashtray is a good option.

I'm braving the 18'F temp here on my back looking at the proportioning valve. Not quite sure where to mount the solenoid. Holes in the floor?? ..no.

I know one of you guys must have done really nice job mounting this and how to deal with the lines. I want it to be NHRA legal.

Any pics?

This is how I was originally going to have mounted mine. The plate is the transmission shifter rod plate found on both column and floor shifted models. If you went this route, you'd have to go to the part store and buy the lines and pre bend them and such plus you'd have to buy/figure out the right fittings, plugs and so forth.

The line lock you would want to plumb after the prop valve. The prop valve has two smaller lines/fittings that come off of it that feed the front brakes. You would want to run one line off of it into the line lock and then install a tee fitting on the outlet end of the line lock where the two smaller lines (that used to feed into the prop valve) would connect to. Then you'd block off the other port of the prop valve. Leave the rear fitting along on the prop valve as it feeds the rear brakes.

Also in the pics the way the mount is sitting is about how it sits under the car. The line lock pictured is the $40 Biondo one found thru Summit.

Mine is right off the powermaster. I also used a HURST microswithch button. Micro switch button is MURPHSTER's car

As promised, a pic. This is the kit Cotton's sells.

Because I am running a hydroboost I had to turn the line sideways and bend it a little to fit.

I didn't take any pics of it when I had the powermaster but I had it installed similar to this except the line was installed so the shorter end of the bend faced the opposite direction.

heres a pic of the hurst lock NHRA legal after the prop valve

I'd have to figure the T-block is avail in hardware stores and/or parts stores. It did not come with it. Installation after the prop valve is what I'm shooting for. I don't want to get to the track some day,and be sent packing because it's before.

Altho I do remember seeing one mounted right next to the master on a GN that runs in the 10's at the local NHRA track.

I wonder why they require it to be after the prop valve.

Thanks everyone for your input and pics.

Thanks everyone for your input and pics.

that way you get full stopping power to both calipers up front, if you install before not only will your brake light come on after each burn out but you can end up with one tire getting more pressure than the other. ;)

I havent run a prop valve in 15 years & mine is mounted on the firewall & never had an issue at any track. I think when you get 8's-9''s they look harder but not at 11.50's. They just want it decent since no cage anyways. That means 11.50 or go home!
