I am tearing my motor apart to replace a wiped cam and I am stuck without a 28mm socket to get the balancer off.
Well, I do have the intake off and I pulled the #3 exhaust lifter out and its in pretty bad shape. It is cupped something fierce and the cam lobe looks a different color and completely round, but that is only looking through the lifter bore.

Not sure if anyone is interested in pics or any other information...

I am no expert and am only ASSUMING that the cupping of the bottom of the lifter was caused by cam to lifter misalignment.

And yes, I am going roller:)

Theres been a few debates and I am buying into the reason that states the #3 exhaust lifter bore is on center with the cam lobe causing the need to put a taper on that lobe which will create the reverse spin of the lifter to promote lubrication. I am going to ASSUME that the cam that was installed did not have enough taper to keep everything lubricated enough causing cam lobe/lifter failure.

sorry to hear this, I just installed my 206 and wondering if my fate will be similair to yours.

I guess the billet roller is they way to go , costs a bundle though.

I hope your fate is not similar! From what I understand, break in is crucial. I purchased the car with the cam already installed and drove it about 15,000 before the cam died...

I am not sure if this will work, but I would periodically pull the oil fill off of the valve cover to get a view of the #3 Exhaust rocker/pushrod and make sure the pushrod is spinning. This will let you know if the lifter is spinning and lubricating.
