What are the symptoms of a bad coil pack ?

There are different symptoms that some experience, but the times I've had a bad one, the symptoms were pretty much the same. I would get up to about 8-10# of boost and the car would start mis firing and backfiring and generally behaving very badly.

What Dave said plus I had one where the engine would not rev over 4000rpm under boost. Almost acted like weak valve springs.

coil pack

I think you can use a voltmeter and check ohms between the plug wire inserts to see if you get a consistent value It's been a while but I think its between 12000-16000 don't know if this test will show up all problems that may ocure with a coil pack but is a start

Oxidation or rust on the terminals or terminal connectors inside the boots.

Misfiring, nosing over under hard acceleration.

If your going to replace the coil pack you should also consider replacing the ignition module.
