Would some of you guys with the ball bearing turbos tell me if they are worth the extra money? Im planning on the "67" for my upgrade. 99% street car. I dont want anymore than the 3200 stall. Ive read that the bb's spool faster. How much faster? Has anyone compared by just matting the pedal from idle with the same size turbos? I dont want to spend a lot of money and wish I had the other, either way. Thanks:)

Tyrod, I can not help with a comparison, but I can give a driving impression. I have an Innovative water cooled dual BB. It is not a large turbo, roughly 650 CFM, right between stock and a TE44/TA49 and all I can say is spool and throttle response is amazing. You step on the pedal and you have 20 PSI NOW! Zero lag. Only downside is it sounds like a police siren! I am going to upgrade to a larger unit and it will be BB without a doubt. Good luck. Kevin

I will tell you this, I have been using an Innovative double BB 70 recently and it spools faster than you can say boo....however, for the money, you can match a converter and turbo for the same effect

on a street car, I think a small BB turbo would be ideal (most of the ricer stuff uses them ie STI)

well, it whistles purty good, but it has a 4" intake and continues to rotate for about 30 sec after the car shuts down......

Isnt that neat.... I had no idea what that sound was when I shut the car down. Take of the inlet and spin that shaft for 30 sec. by hand...isn't technology great!!!

So with all this cool spool info and to help answer Tyrod's question, what would be the biggest/best dual BB turbo to run on a mostly street driven TR with a 3200 converter?

I run the Innovative Dual Ball Bearing water cooled GT70 turbo P trim and THDP style integral wastegate exhaust housing, 3 bolt turbo.

It spools perfectly and amazingly fast on the street with my Protorque 10.5" 3200 stall converter.

Stock heads and cam, driven daily.

A slightly better spooling improvement over the TA62 it replaced.

Next turbo purchase for the other car a GN will definately be a ball bearing unit.

Sounds GREAT!!!!

Louder with a cat. on the car that I needed to pass emissions. The cat. comes off tomorrow. :)

Scares the crap out of da ricers.

A 66 or 65 BB would be a great choice in answer to your question.

I am selling a T66 BB turbo with a 4 bolt exh flange(A/R.81) and circular style 4 bolt downpipe flange for 1100shipped anywhere. Pm me if your interested. Turbo has low mileage.

Thanks for the great input guys:) Sounds like the 65 to 70 range is the ticket I was looking for. Instant or close to it, boost is what i would like to have  THese blowers sound nearly to good to be true. my poor tires:eek:
