Been out of the TR game for a lil while due to many 'life events' that prevented me from enjoying the car. Before parking the GN, I ran straight denatured alky in my ole square SMC bottle with the pump inside. The pump needs replacing as I didn't drain the alky from the bottle, and the pump looks like sh!t, although hiiting the button at idle, it still works. I am going to replace the pump, and thinking about running Meth. My question what are the benefits of running Meth over denatured alky? Seems like more guys are running methanol over alcohol these days. Also, for pump replacement, will something like a Walpro 307 work in the SMC kit? Thanks in advance.......

Pump must be compatable for meth and the lines.meth is much cheaper and has no additives.

These days, most TR owners have abandoned the other alky kits in favor of Razor's kit. If you system is shot, or in need of serious service, it's a good time to consider an upgrade to a kit designed and tailored more specifically with our TR's in mind. Don't take chances with a system you depend on to provide additional fuel, octane and cooling when you need it most. If your car is tuned properly with alky as being part of the equation, then it not being there is a prelude to disaster.

On the other subject of what alky is best? You can use denatured if you choose and tune accordingly. But methanol has slight advantages. It cools better, evaporates quicker, has higher octane adding potential, and it's cheaper when bought in 5 gallon cans. Denatured, although easier to find for most people, bought from Home Depot in gallons actually cost me more than VP M-1 meth does.

there is a reason why most use razors kit especially if you want to use straight meth

Mostly because it's far superior to any other kit out there! When your depending on alky the last thing you need is a weak link in the kit causing it to fail. Bad things happen real fast if that happens. I for one won't take that chance.

Methanol is an alcohol just like denatured (ethanol), and is just as flammable.

Methanol is VERY flammable too. But this is neither here nor there.

As I stated earlier, both can be used. But you must not tune with one and then choose to swap to the other. If you do, then it is best to change the tune accordingly.
