I'm thinking three different mods to do to my car but can't do all of them at once. Already have the fuel system lined out.

1. Turbo $800-850
2. Intercooler- not sure how much or who makes a kit for hot air
3. Alcohol Inj $500

Where's the best place to start and what are the net gains of each item.

Thanks Tim

I would say go with the intercooler, even though some guys say you dont need one to go fast. But, it is a great mod and really brings the hot airs alive.

If you go with a turbo first, you might have to upgrade your injectors too.

I would say a good fuel system, k&N air filter, used(save some money) front mount spearco intercooler setup, a bigger radiator from a F-body car(to handle the intercooler sitting in front of the radiator), a decent chip, and adj. wastegate. That is what my old set up was and she pulled hard. Then always upgrade the turbo & injectors later........just my .02 cents. But in the end its up to what you want your car to do.

Alchy - #1 mod hands down whether a hotair or intercooled car, but definately for a hotair car. The one mod you will not outgrow and will complement whatever you do to the car.
Contact Razor about his PAC setup.

I'd agree with the above two posts. I still haven't used the alcohol but plan to full time next season.

Is it correct to think that adding alcohol inj. will add about the same hp as a Spearco type intercooler kit?

alky

Methanol--Methanol-- and more Methanol.
About 4 to 6 Aquamist nozzles and Razors kit. He has a great thing going with his progressive controller. I have yet to use his controller as my 3 stage is tuned in.
There a few places that you can put pairs of nozzles in an 85 intake assuming the intake is off the car.

Where is the best place to tap the intake for the nozzle? I am guessing it is where the turbo pushes down in... I don't have alky yet, but i got my intake off and would like to tap the hole now, so i don't have to take it off later... anyone got any pics?

Thanks for your time,
Nathyn

6sence, my car is in the paint shop right now but when I get ready to do some mods I would like to look at your car. I'm about 70 mi. west of St. Louis on 44

last time I checked, the alky only cost about 350 from SMC, and razor wasnt too far from that! 500 is a little high, unless youa re getting 6 months worth of alky with the kit!

I plan on using alky in the following year, as my car comes together...but I am doing it all together....New .030 motor, fully ported, roller set-up, TA54 turbo, 3400 stall converter, 60lb injectors, 87 eletrics/comp, 3" DP, 3" dump, and all the little things.... that is the goal of the mods...after that, i am going to try to push it deep 11's!!!

Good luck!

John

I had no luck with the alky. I had it in the adapter below the turbo. The intake is the way to go. But I didn't want to take it off at the time.
I'd get a bigger turbo (ta-33) or something. It will move twice the air. Better passenger side exhaust manifold helps.

I have a 340 walbro, hotwired. I had atr headers, crossover and dowwnpipe. With 2 3/4 exhaust with delta flow flowmasters and dumppipe. It would do just about as good through the mufflers. The 12.9 time was with a spearco intercooler. Without that I had a 13.8 and should have been mid to low 13's.
