I sure do like my 18V Dewalt.

I use all Hilti stuff at work and seem better and lighter than the Dewalts but have a few Dewalts as well.So for the buck I agree Dewalt, or Milwaukee .

DeWalt Makita they are all good,,, look for somebody that will give you good service should you have a problem.

find out how much to replace the batteries-kinda like making sure u can afford insurance for the great car u just bought-last time I priced a Dewalt 18 Volt battery it was over $90- I bought another drill set for that price

How much are you going to use it? For a homeowner, the Dewalt 18V is pretty good.

I work construction and I got the Makita 18V kit with thte li-on batteries. It's really nice with the impact driver. It's small and light and can get into places the big ol' other drills can't get into. The 15 minute charge times are nice too.

+1........google cordless drill reviews......alot of info out there.......and there is a reason the dewalt batteries cost more, they last longer than cheaper models........I've had bosch, Milwaukee, craftsman, ryobi's and none of them lasted near as long as the dewalt......good luck in your search

I have an 18v Makita that I picked up in a drill/sawzall combo from HD for a little over 100 bucks, it's got the hammer drill function and works great.

X2 HILTI makes one of the BEST drills on the market. I have had DeWalts, Milwaukees and Porter Cable...the two Hilti drills are the only ones that haven't been repaired. The 9.6 I got 10+ years ago STILL WORKS. I use the SFH150 crodless hammer drill every day. I am an electrician...so It gets USED!! They are a little more money....mine was $289 for the drill/case/charger and 2 batteries...but IMHO WELL WORTH IT. That was 3 years ago.

I'm not a contractor, dont use heavy tools at work. Will be for home projects. The biggest project I see myself doing is a small 15x20 deck in the back yard. I am really interested in the impact driver. Never used one before till about a year ago on deployment. I borrowed an 18v Dewalt impact driver. I was really impressed at this small tool and it could drive deck screws into 2x4s with ease. I have seen many drill/driver sets. My cordless drill is dying so I figured it was a good time to upgrade. I have been keeping my eye on a makita combo at Home depot. Its a 18v drill/driver set for 279. I should have gotten it during Xmas. It was 199.

I'm cheap... I just picked up a northern tools 24v impact wrench 1/2 drive for $119.00 + $14.99 for 3 year warranty... returned and replaced no questions asked. I've had several expensive drills and got tired of replacing battery packs and BS limited warranty...

The impact can be handy for working on car's also.

Looks like a good deal. How is the MAKITA battery life/quality? Only reason I question Makita is there always on sale.

Craftsman is so cheap now that I consider them disposable. They last a good while then toss em. Best bang for the buck if you don't wanna spend alot up front.

If you're gonna shell out the $..I like Milwaukee.

i found using the dewalt 18v to bulky and heavy for smaller projects, used it for construction putting up drywall and framing. For ease of use the 14.4? dewalt is a nice gun its light and a little bit more compact.

x2 one the Milwaukee that is all I own and they have a 2 year warranty that they stand behind I've used it I know.
