blue tops? green stripe? confused

first off i have never messed with changing injector size in a turbo car, and i know i need a new chip as well.

if anyone says i'm stupid thats fine

what is a scanmaster also? does a TECH 1 GM scanner do the same thing?

Brian Mc, I'll take a stab at it although there are others on the board who are much more knowledgeable. I prefer injectors with spray patterns, e.g., bluetops and 50's. These provide for cleaner burning idles similar to the stockers that won't gas you out of the garage. I would avoid the green stripes and 009s, i.e., those with stream patterns unless you enjoy cleaning carbon stains off the garage floor and inhaling lots of monoxide. I see in your sig that bluetops are on the way and you already have a RA chip. I have a RA chip for bluetops and love it. He'll probably reburn yours for cheap.
The Scanmaster is about the size of a pack of cigarettes and can be mounted on the dash right in the driver's line of vision. It hooks up to the ALDL boot and constantly displays the data of your choice. Its great for monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting although it doesn't have have the capabilities of other scan tools.
Good luck, Joel

Im sure some of the guys will correct me if im wrong but, i believe the ta49 is very similar to my te44. Im running Lucas 42.5 green stripes and a Joe Lubrant 92 chip at the current time. My car seems to perform well with combo although ive never tried another chip with my current setup. I used to run a Red Armstrong 93 chip with my stock inj before i replaced them with the ones i have now. Maybe some of the other guys can shed some input on a killer chip to go with the 42.5lb and te44 as well while were on the subject. Wouldnt want to create a new thread, since the questions are so close:rolleyes:

With ported heads, bluetops may not be enough. If you keep the boost down they will work, but turn the boost up and you will run out of injector.

I love bluetop/TA49 combo (have run a 11.53@118.3 best and lots of 11.6 timeslips) but acknowledge its limitations when the heads are ported.

cool i'm not talking monster port job, just smoothing the castings out and contouring the edges of the valve guides. thay should be ok for that right? should it run better at light throttle versus original 114 k injectors? has a slight miss that i can't get rid of.

But you CAN get rid of those inj;)

Of all the research I've done on this board, most would agree the Blue tops with the TA49 is a good combo. Of course, the most asked question, "How fast do you want to go"?

I plan to have that combo, I have the blue tops installed. The TA49 is on the back burner since my trannie crapped out on me

I also do have the scanmaster. Can't beat it to monitor timing retard (knock) and used for adjusting TPS and IAC.

Blue tops are a great match for the TA49, but if you ever plan on going faster I'd recommend buying 50's now instead of blue tops, since you will most likely need them later. The 50's idle and drive as well as the stockers and blue tops; just tell your chip supplier not to turn the fuel all the way up for now.

im running 50's right now and am about to put on my ta49 in a few days. i know that i will never run out of injectors w/my combo im putting together and that they will give me a good margin of safety for going as fast as i ever wanna go reliably on the stock block (11.5 at the fastest).
