since my cat-back exh is 4", and my downpipe is 3", i ended up putting a Dynomax Ultra-Flo 3.5" muffler where the cat conv was, using that to also serve as the transition between my 3" DP and 4" exhaust. it's a heckuva lot quieter, the car sounds almost like a stock GN now. i guess it helps that the Dynomax muffler is bigger than the muffler in the back on the 4" exhaust. i sliced off sections of a 304SS transition cone to go from 3" to 3.5" at the front of the muffler, and from 3.5" to 4" at the back. it just barely fits in that space, Dynomax 17517 case length is 14", overall assembly is same length as the test pipe it replaced.
