I have a 98 chevy pickup, the truck is super clean, low mile rust free truck, but like every other one around this time frame the chrome bumpers especially the rear just rots off them,(See pics below).
Well i just found the last remaining rust free chevy chrome bumper in the universe, from that era,so i want to preserve it,so i figured i would sand the back + put some kind of rust inhibitor on it to make it last longer, the metal is so thin on these bumpers it's incredible.I think i would need something to stop the rust that is already happening + then maybe a thicker coating like an automotive undercoating, but was wondering if there is a single product that does both, or any other better way of preventing the rust.
Is just sanding + then spraying rustoleum going to help at all?
I figured i'll do whatever i'm going to do,now before i throw it on the truck.
I was planning on going to auto zone + ask this question, but they have not always used these products ,so i figured i would ask here first.
Any Suggestions?
