usetaboost said:Hmmm. My car stalls at 3k at 0 psi with the turbo you built for me and it seems perfect, almost a bit too much. Is it because of the more efficient compressor wheel?
I assume worst case scenario. With the common 10" or 12" restalled converters there's about zero benefit going to a larger ex housing than the Garrett .63 till the car can trap at least in the high one teens.jasjamz said:When you run across these threads you may want to consider that you're talking to someone with a stock compression ratio, stock or 206 cam, stock ecm with a chip, and a converter that stalls at 2800 at best. All that needs to be considered.

jasjamz said:This is very true. I put a 6262 w/the .63 precision housing on a car yesterday with a restalled D5. What a disappointment. The spool up it had with the stocker disappeared. I drove it around to make sure it. wasn't something else.I was all set to put a RJC plate in place to fix the offset puck to port alignment. I pulled the downpipe to check the puck seal/ carbon print and its fine. Yes, that bad! I know a converter @3000 rpm will make it fun again. I think a 10" LU will be going in for the Spring.

Yeah, I considered that option, but feeling it I knew it wouldn't be worth the time and effort. A converter will go in.Even with a Garrett .63 it wouldn't work too well with a d5. That turbo is a low 10 sec turbo with the right complementing parts.

My DBB 6131 .63 spools very fast with a 2700 NL PTC 10". I'm going to see if I can get it to spool a bit faster with the xfi.

I have yet to try a ball bearing precision. I have a friend with a turbonetics ball bearing 72p trim. However he has like a 3800 stall 8" converter so it spools quick anyway. Now that you mention it...3000 is what he will need at 0-1. 2800 won't make me smile.lol. 3 years ago I had it on a PTC 10" 3200... and it spooled slow from a WOT blast of 5-10mph on...no fun... That's why I will always buy a BB turbo for my mostly street driven car. BB turbo's only spool faster from 0-5psi BUT that's what I like for the
street.
