What is signs of this ? Will it cause the motor not to rev or will it rev fast and not have any mph ? Thanks

One good sign is .... The rpm drop on the shift will be low. IE: Shift @ 5000, and the rpm drops 200.
Another is to compare the mph, vs gear ratios, tire size, engine rpm.
If the mph does not come to the calculated speed, then there's a couple things that could be causing it.
A. The converter is the cause.
B. The trans is slipping.
C. You are spinning the tires.:jawdrop:

Chuck what's a "normal" rpm drop?

Rpm drop doesn't indicate a problem with a converter. I've raced with 200-300rpm drop and still not driven through the converter. Use ds speed vs engine speed to determine converter slip. If all is good it will be down in the 5-7% range at the end of a pass at 1:1 typically

The rpm will go up and just sorta hang there. Use the calculator to figure slip and see what it is.

In most cases rpm drop is a good way to tell what a converter does but the Buick isn't one of those cases. Some shift at a very low rpm which creates a very low rpm drop. Shift at 5200 and it drops to 4900 but slip is not much worse than shifting at 5800 rpm and drops to 4900.
