Well after a summer of fun I finally pushed a head gasket out. So since the motor and trans is coming out. Is there anything else I should do while the car is down for the winter? The setup 1986 buick gn stock block with forged pistons, stock crank and rods, studded heads rods and mains, 009 inj, 3 in THDP, ta60 turbo, comp cams 206/206 hydrolic roller cam, 3 in atr single shot exhaust. I bought the car as a basket case 6 years ago and its been a lot of mixed emotions. Thanks for the future input Kevin

razors alky kit if you havent dont that. and ported heads and intake

Thanks for the quick info. I'm not sure how reliable alky is?. My local gas station sells 110 leaded. We are running about 1/3 mix 93 and 110. As for injectors and chips are the 60's big on the street? I happen to live 10 minutes from red and jane armstrong so its easy to for me to buy chips.

The Razors alky kit is very reliable and in the long run is cheaper than buying 110 octane fuel. Also how much boost were you running? I don't think I'd run anything but straight 110 octane in your tank if you're going to be pushing a lot of boost. But if/when you get the alky kit, it will allow you to run 93 octane provided your chip is burned for it.

Put it this way- with tuning, Razor was into the 10s on pump gas and alky before the block let loose. Once you're tuned for alky, you'll never have to guess about your mixture, either.

Running 110 all the time will also kill your O2 sensors on a regular basis.

60s are perfect for the street; the 009s are rated at 42.5 lbs/hr, and are historically known to be pretty finicky. The 60s are much smoother on the idle, and will outflow the 009s any day of the week. When (and not if) you go with a bigger turbo, you'll already have the injectors to support the upgrade.

10 gallons of 93 and 5 of 100 is only 95.3 octane, who much boost and timing were you running and what where you tuning with?

FWIW, I'm mixing 10 of 93 and 5 of 110 for 98.6 octane and then running Meth injection at 22psi and 25 degrees of timing for 0 knock.

I too live close to Red also and respect his knowledge. However, i would not trade my TT chip for any other on the market. After taking out Red's chip and putting in the TT chip I did no tuning and all my scan master #'s fell into place and the idle is soooooo much smoother.

Tony....

Thanks for all the info the car was running 23-25 lbs of boost. It seems that I didnt have nearly enough octane. I will finally install the direct scan that I bought in the begining of the year. I just have to find a laptop that will work.
