I know this is a constant question. not too long ago ive been blowing blue smoke. it started coming out more and more at stop lights. when i rev it and spool up the smoke will go away and burn clean. i use all synthetic but im hearing that maybe my ta-49 might need a rebuild. it only has 15000 on the turbo and 40 on rebuilt motor. last week the blue smoke barely came out. now its pouring out. i took off the intercooler. fond typical oil residue but no oil in or anywhere near the compressor housing. i have to remove the exhaust housing but will i be able to find anything with all that residue. oh ya the throttle body had no residue as well. alot of people are saying that it sounds like a turbo seal and that most likely oil is leaking in the exhaust housing and being burnt and so when i spool up the seal expands thus not burning as much. but as soon as it spools down .oil smoke just pours out. thanks in advance guys

Its the turbo. Mine went bad at 1000 miles. Not sure what you mean by "typical" oil in the ic? There should be no oil in there, unless you are still running the pass. side breather into the turbo inlet, which I doubt. Anyway, get the turbo rebuilt and you'll be fine, or use this as a chance to upgrade!

sorry i dont know why i wrote typical. there isnt anything really in the IC. i like this ta-49 though. its keeping me in the low 12s and keeping the backend pretty stable. thanks for the info. how much should a rebuild be? thanks
