Is there more than one way to oil the rocker shafts on buick stageII
00031 cylinder head. The head has a taped hole at the front and I
was wondering if it is possible to oil the rocker shafts the same way
as the 00030 heads with out plumbing oil lines to the holes
Thanks
Steve Rowan

There are two ways I know of the oil the rockers on these heads when equipped with T&D rockers:

-Pressure feed hollow rocker shafts with the oil passage you mentioned

-Pressure feed the lifters and direct oil up the pushrods to the rockers arms

The same heads equipped with Jesel rockers are usually oiled up the pushrods.

I did both. at first, i was using solid pushrods (ball/cup) so the only way to oil the rockers was I plumbed in a 3-way oil manifold coming up out of the rear oil hole out of the block, and ran -4AN lines to the heads. I now have restrictors in the fittings so as not to draw too much oil away from the bottom end, as I also oil through the pushrods now.
