Fixing a 2-3" hole in wife's rear 300Z quarter panel. Would like to lay a layer from the inside, allow to harden, and then put an exterior layer over the interior layer.

Any problem layering bondo like this...i.e. one layer over another?? I don't think I'll have enough time to do inside and outside before it hardens.

Thanks for info and any tips....last time I bondo'd anything was my '67 Firebird in '72.

use fiberglass filler instead of bondo....never use bondo to fill a hole, just smooth dents

Yeah you definately dont want to patch a hole with filler. If you dont have access to a welder you can glue the patch panel on. Something like Fusor 110B http://www.lord.com/Default.aspx?tabid=1190#110B111BT31 The metal you cut out can be from an old fender. Make sure you at least have an inch, inch and a half overlap between the two pieces of metal. Just glue the patch in from behind, sand the outer surface with 36 grit, and then lay down a layer of mud. Sand, prime, paint.
