Is there a normal negative boost level you would expect with our cars while at idle? Mine sits around -12#'s when at idle.

Thanks

Vacuum

It's called vacuum. It varies from car to car, many things can affect it like camshaft duration and vacuum leaks. Anywhere from -10 to -28 psi. Obviously more is better for vacuum brake setups.

Are you sure you're not seeing 12" (InHg) of vacuum? I doubt you're seeing -12# since that would equate to about 24" (InHg) of vacuum.

Most cars will idle between 12-16" (InHg) of vacuum.

So I believe you're reading the vacuum side of the gauge and misinterpreting it as - boost.

Oh yeah, It probably does read as vacuum. Never noticed the diff. Will check again tonight when I'm driving home.

Thanks
