I was thinking of using some just to have a few added octane numbers to the tank, not a entire bottle per tank, but enough to say bring a tank of 93 up to 97..just for added insurance in case the alky pump dies in the middle of a run, and hope the WB follower adjusts the AFR enough in time to same some parts??? Any thoughts for that? And Boostane Premium vs Professional, does one have lead in it?

Could get expensive I have 3 other boosted vehicles to dump some in to...

The "Professional" boostane just has a higher concentration of MMT and is not street legal. There's no lead.

$25 a can is cheap for what you get. Mixed with 17 gallons of 93, a can of Boostane gets you a between 101 and 102 octane.
https://boostane.com/about-boostane/boostane-mixing-chart/

The cheapest I can get VP 100 is $9.50 a gallon, but I have to drive two hours to get it. By the time I pay the gas to go get it at that price and get it back home, I've paid $11+/gallon, but I'll use the $9.50 number. Quality pump 93 from Costco was $2.90 today.

So let's do some math:
17 * 2.90 + 25 = $74.30/tank

17 * 9.50 = $161.50/tank

Most people will have to pay upwards of $11/gallon for race gas these days, so it only gets worse. The Boostane or Torco104 additives beat race gas every time. It doesn't beat alky injection on a per-tank basis. But if you factor in the $600 for the kit? That's enough Boostane to treat 24 tankfulls. That's 6,120 miles at 15mpg. That's like two years of driving for my car.

To put it another way, the Boostane adds ~$1.47 per gallon for a 17 gallon fill. I paid more than that for pump premium back in 2008 when fuel got so stupid high right before the crash, and I don't even live on the coast where people got really shafted.

What don't you get with Boostane and pump gas? Precision blending. Race fuel is the same stuff every time. Same specific gravity, same vapor pressure, same stoich ratio. So you can tune to the edge and not worry like if you tune to the edge on pump gas and then end up with a bad batch in the tank from Bubba's quick-mart.

Thanks for the info, it sure couldn't hurt to mix a little in. My truck also has methanol injection, although it is a 50/50 mix in it, it drinks too much gas to try to mix it every time as it gets driven quit a bit. The vette is under warranty with no meth and runs 12psi boost so it may be a candidate just for insurance also, maybe gets 10 tanks of gas a year. The GN is probably less tanks than that a year.

I think I'll stick with the kiss rule.

I dig maths, but I dig just plainly filling up my tank more.

Great info everyone.
It's a real shame that the Boostane won't publish a SDS on their website. They claim that the Boostane Professional is better suited for turbo and supercharged applications, raising octane levels to 116, vs Boostane Premiums' rating up to 100.
I would love to see a back to back to back test of Boostane Premium vs VP Racing Fuels' Octanium vs Torco on a normal combo'd Turbo Buick.
My bet is, they would be very similar.

And just for the record, here are all of the links for the most popular additives.

I like how that link says the marine version is not street legal. But if you click the link to the marine version, it says it is street legal.

I'm putting water injection on my boat engine. Not sure what it's octane is though.

Pretty sure I can find a source of pressurized water back around my 12" jet pump. :)

If I ever get the LS started and tuned, I'll be testing different fuels.
93/alky.
100LL.
100LL/alky.
Various combos w/ boost additives. It's a "no cooler" application. Considering the powa this mo fo will make, 20# is more than the street will allow.:smug:

You won't need a cooler if you start with something like this...

Then end up with something like this....

Might run too cool. Along with built in water injection and some extra steam power. :)

HMMMMMMMMMM..............................E-85...................??? Just Sayin..:sneaky:

I'd like to add a question to all of this good info...Always liked the idea of putting in a meth kit with a gauge so I can raise the boost to like 20 for the street. But I don't drive the car alot, only on weekends if that/ and it's in storage in the winter also don't race...94 octane is available here petro canada(pump gas)My boost is 17 safely with no problems or knock. Maybe getting a new 100 octane chip from Turbotweak and using a can of this boostane might be alright for me?Would I have to upgrade the IC

Alky pumps don't die on a run they lose pressure over time.do what you feel is comfortable I prefer to run more meth and add octane that way but I look at pressure all the time.
my old smc pump locked up on a run

There is no downside to adding these “octane boosters” to a methanol injected car. The timing requirement may change a little and spark plugs will need to be changed more often.
