back in 1991 when i purchased my GN i was reading a old GSX-tra artical and it said something about a Bosch 286 fuel pump and this was before all the high performace fuel pump was developed..so i bought one from a import company... this pump was suppose to give high fuel pressure and volume when inline with the stock pump...since then i replaced the in tank pump with a high performace fuel pump but still have the Bosch 286 pump...I`m i the only one who uses the pump today after 17 yr? who else remembers this external fuel pump (bosch 286)

Me Me Me

I ran that same setup untill recently. Only difference was I had a pickup for the Bosch and then ran the intank and the Bosch into a Tee-- from there to eng. Brought the Bosch on @ 12 psi with a hoobs switch. Very old school but IMO maybe the best. I now have 2 Bosch 044 mounted externally. Each with its own pickup. Enough fuel to support 1200 HP.

I have an ATR super pump with a Bosch in line as well. I hope it will still work with my new combo since I'm pretty well tapped out. I ran a high 10 with it running rich at that. Does anyone think it should be replaced or keep it old school?

That pump though is just for external use and came in the 930 Porsche. The Walbro 340 and Supra 280 supply more fuel for a higher HP rating but I'm sure in 91, that was the way to go and piggyback the stock pump.

Lee's setup is massive and could support an airliner in comparison to the stocker and 286.

The problem is you are still sucking fuel thru a collapsed, clogged 22 year old Fuel pump screen.

I just finished taking mine off last year. Never had an issue except for the noise.
