I have a RJC MBC and started turning the boost up. When I started turning the rod end in, it bottomed out on the rod. Is it ok to cut some of the rod of to shorten it even more. I am at 20-21# with no KR.

If you have more threads left on the rod you can cut it and get more out of that Te44. Do you have ported heads and intake its weird your only able to get the boost to 20-21.

Sounds like you have a standard spring wastegate actuator, as that is very typical what you can adjust the boost to with a standard spring actuator.

Two options:

1. Cut about 1/8" tp 1/4" off of the adjustment rod, effectively making it shorter.

2. You could get an RJC boost controller and run more boost with a standard actuator.

I was able to run 28psi on a TE-60 with a standard spring actuator and the RJC boost control valve. Bone stock motor with valve springs, timing chain and a RJC power plate.

That's your two options with your current actuator.

3rd option would be to purchase a Heavy Duty wastegate actuator. With the HD actuator, your would be able to adjust the boost from 18psi to 30psi with wastegate only. But nothing below 18psi without changing out the puck in your downpipe and porting the hole larger.

Hope this helps.

This is what I am going to do.

Already have a RJC MBC

bottomed out my rod....last night....wife was...uh-never mind, wrong forum:o

If you have an RJC, you dont need to adjust the rod anymore. Put the rod back to where it has the most travel and turn the 90 degree end of the boost controller in to make more boost. The shorter you make the rod, the less travle the diaphram has to open and close, causing you major headaches and boost issues. Do this and the boost controller will do its job. I just installed it on my external waste gate. I has made life so much easier.

found issue. The arm on the wastegate was bent. I straightened it back out and gained about 5 more lbs
