No need for a Flame suit. All they do is help prevent compressor surge and sound good lol

Ive had 11 second buicks with and without them. Never had a problem either way. If you like going WOT and off a lot like me teasing Vettes the Bov helps sway away from too much surge. With automatics the throttle body is open more than closed shut in between shifts like on a manual. That is why our cars can get away with really not needing them.

I don't have one but I've considered one. Most folks on this board do not recommend one and feel they're only for rice burners. IMO a "pssshhh" sounds better than a flutter when the throttle body plate snaps shut right after boost.

Ill walk away from a possible purchase if I see one. At that point god only knows what other ill informed decisions were made on the car....and I have seen A LOT.

Not going after you guys with the big blow dryers (sub 10 second cars)....understand your beliefs in protecting your investment. Stockers and slightly larger turbos and what not.....better places to put your hard earned cash.

Mine clocked in at 153,000 miles before my turbo crapped out, and that was operator error. I did not have a pampering love affair with the gas pedal either.

Most of these BOV questions come from a deep seeded love affair with the "noise" associated. I truly believe this.

Did not want to start a new thread but I had a bov on my car with anti surge housing. The bov never really opened with this turbo but did with a to4e I run on a 3.8l engine. Long storu short, my bov shit the bed by a tear in the diaphragm so I started searching these boards to see who all is running one. I decided to ditch the device for personal reasons but then made a call to precision turbo to see what they say. They in fact told me that my turbo would not be covered under warranty if the turbo were to succumb due to surge. I did not agree with this because there are a lot of factory cars/trucks out there who dont have a bpv or bov in the system. When I mentioned this to the guy he simply said those turbo's are not a billet 62mm lol.

With that being said, I bought the cheapest bov ebay had to offer. 50mm that come with all mounting harware including vband clamp and flange. It is a non diaphragm deal that works real good. It is adjustable up to 35psi and is gold. Paid like 29.99 for it shipped from some cali shop. Just thought I'd share with you guys.

some other brand cars came with a turbo dump valve from the factory...wonder what those guys were thinking ....then some car dude took those factory bov's off those cars and adapted them for use on their turbo cars that did not come with one....all hardly audible....the aftermarket came out with some abit louder.

i should comment on the cheap...cheap might not seal anything past 10# of boost...use at own risk.
