I was thinking about going to the buick event in may at bowling green ky is it really worth a 400 mile drive how is the race car count and the swap meet do they have a lot of venders? what do u guys think!!!!

400 miles!!
I travel 1100 every year to go!
just gun shy the last buick event I went to I wated all year to go to it,got there and it was a flop I am glad it was 30 minutes from my house!! (buicks at bristol)

I will finally get to go this year. Three days of Buick fun??? BTW, how is the swap meet? Never been either so it would be nice to know what to expect.

I have not been yet myself but work with someone who has. He said it is a must do for all of us buick g body guys. Tons of vendors and large swap meet. Bring money and shooping list. Have put it on my list of must do for 2008,comming down from wisconsin.;)

Havent been in last couple years but I can say it was one of the better times I have had in recent memory. And I was just a spectator.

400 miles.... lol. I woke up from my first nap while Otto drove at the 400 mile marker. Its a no-brainer at 400 miles. People drive from Cali every year.

It's a MUST SEE event, especially if you haven't been. As much as I hate the GSCA, I still go every chance I get, just to watch, and walk through the tons of vendors.

It is also the most expensive buick event to go to.

I still find it a bargain compared to the racing iget to do locally.
The first 3 days are ok turnout,So you can get a boat load of passes
just like a track rental, and they charge i think 35 for the day.
A 1 day track rental around here is between 80-150 a day.

In the past the did require you to be a club member to race,If you werent
you had to become a member and pay there an extra 50 bucks.

But I have heard that they may be waving that this year.

It is also the only event that is 5 days of racing so if you attend
the full 5 days it is srely gonna cost you more to race there.

And as much as people have made a point of saying that attendance is
lacking in the past years,Ive been to almost every other Buick event in the past 6 years, and none have even come close to the attendance and or vendors.

THe time of hte year it is held is also a huge plus for me,The weather is usually in the 70-80s all week,Most other event are in June,July and August and the temps are usually in the high 80s-90s

This is just my take on it.

I have gone 4 out of the last 6 years. I been there when its rained, and still had a blast. If you have not gone, you need to!! The best parts for me is hanging out at the hotol with buick people and drive around the town and seeing buicks everywhere. Can't wait to go again.

Been there the last 3 years...great time every time no matter what the turnout has been. The 25th GSCA anniv 3 yeasr ago had amazing attendance.
You can find tons of hard to find parts. I usually stock up on any plastic parts I see that are NOS if I don't already have a spare...never know when you'll need it.... not to mention all the great vendors you can meet in person and others from this board.

Expensive?

When you say this event is expensive, is it due to the racing? I won't be racing but I figured I'd bring out a few of my bricks and check out the scene. Just curious as to what I should expect it to run me...

I too have been thinking of going this year as I have vacation that week!! The only thing stopping me is, and maybe someone who knows can chime in here, will there be any hotel/motel rooms available now this late in time?? Would love to follow some local Connecticut people down also....:D

Ken B.

cool guys!! how are the motels around do they go fast when do i need to book a room? u guys have made up my mind!!! I cant wate!!! lets see some pictures of past events.....

I have went the last 5 years. It is a great place to hang out, but there is no question the attendance is down. Last year you really saw no cars on Scottsdale Rd compared to years before. I'm sure a change in the times has something to do with it and other events to fill in the race schedule.

The biggest plus is that Otto will be there.
