If it is a 200-4r BR1 then it is out of a 86 or 87 turbo buick "BRF" transmission. I "think" that the early 80's cars had a 200c or a th350 with a BR code. but any 200-4r valve body that begins with BR is a turbo buick VB. I have personally seen BR1, BR2, and BR3. there may be others.

The bad thing about these topics is that it's hard to use the search functions for short words. Otherwise you'd be bombarded by the search feature nazi's.

My bad, I knew it was from a 2004R as that's the tranny I'm using in my 280ZXT...I was just wondering if anybody knew what car that it came from. It was sold to me as coming from an 86 or 87 Regal T-Type, but after finding a cigarette butt inside the torque coverter (when I picked it up, before rebuilding and stengthening the tranny), I have my doubts. The tranny tag was missing from the tail end and no "real" identifiable marks were found on the case of the tranny. (Needless to say, the converter didn't get used.) I'm using an Art Carr MVB with a Quicksilver rachet shifter at present.

BR, BR1, BR2, and BR3 are all turbo regals. The BR is quite different than the other 3 and was used in some 83 t-types that had a 200-4R.

OK, Turbo Regal/Regal T-Type...now, any real differences (performance wise) between the BR1, BR2 & BR3 ? Druthers given, which would you have and why?

There are no noticeable differences in drivability

BR1 was 86----BR2 was early 87 and BR3 was late 87----extremely small differences in the TV valves------Accululator valve piston in BR1 was a slight bit smaller in dia but not much------BR was different in several areas----TV was somewhat different and it had an extra valve in one location (3/2 if i remember) but its easy to plug to get it to perform exactly like a 86/87 BR------one shift spring (3/4 i think) is slightly different------all this is from memory that is not too good-------but i have detailed info at the shop------i have extremely detailed info on every single valve land dia. and spring dimensions and rates on all the BR and BQ series valve bodies if you really want to know anything specific.............RC

Thanks Rich...that means it comes from an 86 Regal T-Type...close enough to what I was told to feel more comfortable about the deal I got on it.
