Braided SS Trans. Lines?

I run braided trans. lines as well. Although mine are run on top of the frame. Pics attached.

I'd be careful that those lines doesn't abraid a hole trough the plastic tank of the F-body Radiator, this stuff is known to even chew Aluminium up.

i use -6 braided, on all of my past and will on future cars/ racecars, and the teflon stuff for guages -4, same with brake lines

By the way, if you are wanting to know how much hose to run, you can simply run a piece of string. It should be pretty accurate, also I have used these hoses in both fuel and tranny fluid to know detriment. At least not to date.

I have never used a braided line for anything. Do I put the ends on, or do I order the hose wit the ends? If I put them on, do I just use a hose clamp?

I am trying to get as much info before I order, so I can get the lines and go to work.

Is anyone out there running braided SS trans line? I really dont like the steel tubing, its a PIA, plus I look that stainles braided look.

Any input of what u guys are running for trans. lines would be great, Thanks

There's lots of differing opinions on the use of regular stainless steel lines for fluids. I've used the regular stainless lines for years on race gas and never experienced a problem, yet. Methonal is a different story.

Just to be safe, I've used teflon lined stainless steel for my trans cooler. Perhaps the high detergents in trans fluid could cause problems ... dunno, but I'd ere on the side of safety. A transmission is an expensive thing to repair, if in fact it injests rubber particles.

Be safe, use teflon lined stainless !!

How do I put the hose ends on? What ends do I need to get? Is it just one end and thats it, or do I get an end for the hose, then another end to go into the tranny and cooler? If I am running an auxilary cooler, should I use the cooler in the radiator too, or just the auxilary one?

I am new to this tranny hose, cooling stuff, last time i blew a line I took it to the shop. Hundred something later I had 1 new line . So I want this to be done right. Thanks all you guys for your input so far, its been a tremoendous help :smile: :smile:

There are different types of hose ends but they all basically involve jamming one half of a hose end fitting onto the end of the hose and then screwing the other half of the hose end into the first part. The other end of the hose fitting that gets screwed on to the fisrt part that is jammed onto the hose has the AN part that gets screwed onto the part that is being connected (like a trans cooler). Most stuff has NPT fittings so it is necessary to use a NPT to AN adapter.
