Brake fluid trail

Went out to the garage last night and what do I see but a fluid trail coming from under the GN.It looked like a larger version of the A.C. water trail.NO luck it is brake fluid and appears to be coming from the reservoir between the base and the top,yes the seal is good.Stranger yet is the amount of fluid on the cement dripping off the car and the reservoir was still full.Removed the cap and reservoir was full both sides,removed fluid and replaced cap.Question were did all this brake fluid come from and how do you repair it.The car has 23,000 miles on it I am the second owner and was driven earlier in the day no problems.

John, take a turkey baster and suck out the inboard side of the reservior down to about 1/2" deep. It's supposed to be low on that side intentionally. That is likely the problem. Then clean everything real good.

Here is what it sounds like to me.
The reservior was over the full line and the accumulator (ball) went bad. The fluid that the accumulator contained was released back into the reservior, which overflowed.
That is my my take on the problem.

You can turn the key on and see if the level drops in the reservoir. Then turn the key off and wait to see if the level comes back up in the reservior.

My car just recently did that also. Had a big puddle after parking the car in the garage. If the accumulator ball is bad, would it do that every time you parked the car? Mine only did that once, and I determined it came out the top of the reservoir like you described. Tim

No, just the one time because then your level would never be more than what it took to overflow. If you didn't remove any fluid it would be completely full. Then once you turn the key on the PM would pump some into the accumulator and drop the level.

Also your brake light may be coming on more often on starting the car the first time every day.

Replaced the accumulator ball and the problem is solved.No more brake light and fluid is no longer a problem.Special thanks to John Larkin for all his help.
