Broke driveshaft - trans wont shift now

I broke my drive shaft in 4th gear doing over 130 - I put everything back together and now there are no gear changes, feels like it's stuck in low. Shifting through the gears manually does nothing.

You broke the gov gear I bet. This is where I would start to look.

Is this a hard part to get? Do you think the trans could be permantly damaged from this? The rear seal was not damaged, btw.

Not to fear.

The governor gears are still available from GM. Chances are Bruce hit the nail on the head here and that'll cure it.

If you didn't even hurt the rear seal, you're pretty lucky.

Yes. Remove the pan and look towards the rear of the trans. There will be an aluminum housing retained by four, 13-mm bolts. Remove that and the governor will slide out for inspection/repair.
