Section 291-24.5 provides a fine of up to $200 against anyone who drives a motor vehicle with a noisy muffler.

The law states: "No person shall use on a public highway, sell, alter or install a muffler which will noticeably increase the noise emitted by a motor vehicle above that emitted by the vehicle as equipped from the factory."

WTF?... not a citation a domestic usually will get...

contest the citation and ask if the officer has training on a dB meter and if he has the proper testing equipment (they dont and they have not)

Court Date on Summons is 25JUN07 0830 Courtroom #4 Honolulu District 1111 Alakea St, I think he was just Pissed off that I was NOT DRUNK and all my paperwork was in order so I recon this is the only thing he could cite me for, He was Driving a Late Model White Monte Carlo, some respect for Memorial Day "A"......

Spoke to my friend about this and he mentioned that the case will get dropped.

That loud muffler law is old and there is no way the officers can prove it's a loud muffler what Rob said was exactly my friend said about the db meter.

Case Was Dismissed

Thanks peeps cost me 12.00 bucks for parking though......get you coming and going.......also got Safety checked with the HID's and at first they didn't want to pass it saying something like the lenses did not have DOT stamped on them.....but I got my stickers so no matter........

Right on... I dont know why HPD even issues tickets for exhaust... (unless its a fart cannon!)
