Ok,

I've been on the board for a lil over a year now, and i keep seeng references to the "budget roller cam episode". I've gathered that some company sold roller cams to the GN community that were a cheap but didnt last very long (made from wrong materials?) but thats all ive been able to infer. I did a search for threads about it, but all i could find was other threads that breifly referenced it. Was there one big thread about all this, and I jsut cant find it? If someone would be kind enough to post a link to it, I'm just curious, i hear about this mess all the time, but don;t know what the heck everyone is talking about. Thanks for indulging my curiosity

I think it was about 3 or 4 years ago. PTE started selling "budget roller cams". Essentially roller cams ground on flat tappet cores. I called them about a cam and they told me about this, it was very cheap compared to the other companies, but theirs were billet. Sounded like the best thing since sliced bread, so I bought it. After my a few oil changes I found a ton of trash in my engine. The roller liffters galled the lobes flaking a crapload of metal off, trashing a new engine. But it was not their fault, oh no. It was either too much spring pressure (with their supplied springs), binding valve springs (not even close to bind, springs were installed at stock height), or anything else that they were not liable for. They left me out in the cold like the did on a pt 51 that I bought previously that failed at a later date. That was not their fault either. They never heard of that problem either, even though you can do a search and see how many cases are occured on this board alone.

Customer service for me sucked, got treated like I was wasting their time on the phone, and got dropped in the grease TWICE. Have not bought anything from then since. Don't know how good they are now, and don't care. There are other guys that appreciate my business.

Racing Parts come with no warranty, guarantee, some folks keep forgetting that. Yes, I bought one, it failed, and life went on. Sometimes something that sounds too good to be true, turns out to be true.

Sorry if i got anyone riled up, I certainly wasn't trying to drudge up any bitterness, was just curious about this episode in the history of turbo regal performance.

Yep. All true. But when you sell parts that have a consistant failure rate and you pass the buck by saying "oh, well... we have not heard of anything like that happening. You must have blah blah blah". And then you hear of all these other people that have been told the same thing, that is bad form.

I know racing parts have no warranty. Because hell, if who know what could happen. Someone could try to warranty engine bearings if something crazy happened, like, SOMEONES CAM flaking metal in the engine.

This horse has been beaten before, but it still pisses me off.

Probably best to lock this thread now.

Oh...don't forget about this board "mysteriously" getting wiped clean when it was really getting fired up about it. The board had to start fresh all over again. Yeah-yeah.....I liked that one! That's the reason you can't find the thread(s) everyone is talking about.

You can warm up to the 2 vendors who shafted us on this if you want, but not me. I will bring it up as long as I live. I get mad everytime I think about it.I would like to know how they sleep @ night. When I make a mistake on my car, I pay for it. I don't like to pay for other peoples mistakes also.

It's not a matter of *warming up*, it's a matter of understanding, NO WARRANTY on Racing Parts. If you can't accept that, that's your problem.

If you want to get upset about it, and forever be upset by it, you'll probably make a cardialogist, even richer.

You really can't blame the vendor if there supplier made a defective part. The orginal maker of the camshaft is to blame and should have supplied the vendor with new cores at there cost

Hey Lee, some guys just DON"T get it !!!!

Ya, it's popular nowadays to play victim, and say others aren't doing, or didn't do enough, rather then accepting the brutality of understanding what *No Warranty* actually means.

Staying : mad : will also help your cardialogist retire even a richer man.

This continual bashing over something that happened years ago, IMO, is just further evidence of how far we've gotten from *Fast with Class*. Ignoring the no warranty, and then looking for something else to complain isn't going to serve anyone.

Bruce your a retard it's not about a warranty on race parts,It's about a defective part. For someone who claims such intelligence you're a tool!!!!

Bruce,

You are correct when you say "NO WARRANTY on Racing Parts", but I feel that it applies only to proven parts and not junk that's passed off as a proven part. :D I too was a VICTIM of the budget cam fiasco, yes victim is the proper word, I trusted someone and was let down. :(

Ok, I really didn't mean to stir up this amount of animosity.... now i feel bad I even brought it up :( Consider my question answered, and I'll be stepping out of this thread before it comes to blows <steps outside and closes door behind himself>

How can you say "race only part"...........some of us didn't even get around the block with that cam before it ate the motor.....2 vendors really stuck it to alot of people....I for one will never forget.

Corey, don't sweat it, lots of people got burned and we all still feel the pain. After spending over $1400 on my "cam", I feel I have the right to b!tch a little...

Thankfully I wasnt' in the bunch that had problems with the cams , why don't we turn this more towards what roller cams are doing well. I have a 210 210 roller in mine right now from DLS and so far I am very happy with it. What about it guys? What you got? Daniel
