ok, are we talking an L36 Series I or II 3800 or a classic 3.8L V6 Major difference will be if its EFI, I assume it is, is that a 3.8L will have a metal intake and the 3800 will have a plastic.

no....but anyways the buggy I bought was built by somebody else so no i didnt put the motor in.yes it is efi. no the intake is not plastic. which model it is i have not a clue so for my ignorance but that info was not provided to me. the intake says buick 3.8 tuned port injection. I know that means **** but i know no more sorry. but are there only certain models that I can sc? thanks and sorry for the lack of info.

You hae a classic 3.8L V6 and there are no supercharged bolt ons for it unless you adapt a centrifical kit for a Buick 350. The Eaton M62 or M90 from the later Series I, II, or II L67 supercharged engines would take some interesting work to put on though you might have some luck with a Thunderbird M62 as they are designed for a RWD platform and have a different inlet and outlet design that might be easier to adapt. Basically you'd have to pull the upper "Doghouse" plenum and make an adpater to put the supercharger there and get the pulley to line up to drive it off of modified crank pulley.

Thats about all I can give you in nutshell,

Stupid question? What transaxle are you using? Sounds like stock VW. What I might suggest is to find the turbo and induction set up from a 84-85 hot air Riviera. Sounds like you have the correct cylinder heads and everything should bolt up. You can make lots of stupid HP with this turbo set up. It would be on the same difficulty level as engineering a SC for that motor.

Don't give him crazy ideas like that. TurboRivs are hard to come by. I miss mine. Please don't molest one.

oh... your talkin dune buggy. where i live we have a lot of amish and i tried picturing an engine in a horse drawn vehicle.... :D

Well than I'm going to burn in hell for sure. I've parted out many a T-Type Riv over the years. I'm with you on that.Save the baby whales, uh I mean turbo Rivs. Too bad these pigs rust out so fast. Thats the number one reason I part them out. Plus seeing as they only made about 2200 SFI cars NOS parts disappeared a long time ago too. The Regal guys dont know how good they have it.

so is sounds to me like the whole sc idea is out the window well there went my winter buggy work plans.well then what are the next ideas i can ponder to make this buggy have some real balls?

I would love to see someone pull the whole drivetrain out of a junk T-Type and make an intercooled Buick Turbo 3.8 SFI powered RWD Mk1 Volkswagen Rabbit.

Any pics??:D

There is a supercharger kit available.

uses a Weiand 144. The system is designed as a NON EFI unit and in a NON STOCK application (in other words, it will poke through a hood).

kit comes with modified 86/87 lower plenum, Plenum adapter, blower girdle, lower & upper pulley, serpentine belt, MSD BTM-6, MSD/Mallory dizzy All basic pieces needed to assemble a blown motor.

Blower and carb, linkage, etc... etc... etc... not included, but can be for a price.

basic startup kit starts at around, 1150$ while the complete system runs about 2800-3200$

 A.j.

I've heard the familiar sound of our turbo 3.8s out in the dunes numerous times, some of the setups were super clean. Anyway, I was always glad to go check em out and ask , what they've done to the motor, but I'm on the fence about the motor not beieng on the street in a TR/
