buick regal 3800 - black smoke

i just drove my 2000 buick regal and i had black smoke coming out of the exhaust. also i had to keep the petal almost to the floor for the car to keep going. someone told me i fire coming from my exhaust. any ideas what is wrong?

Mass air flow sensor maybe. Plugs will have to be inspected and changed if fouled. We need more data. Unplug the Mafs and see if it runs better. Catalytic converter will melt if the car runs under those condtions very long.

ok i took off the mass air flow and cleaned it and the car is running ok now. But i broke a wire(positive) when i took it off. Is there a way to correct this without buying a new harness?
