help me figure out why my car is so slow and i'll be there

I'm some noob going to school in okc with an 87 GN with a few mods and 170k miles that can't seem to trap over 90 mph and go faster than 14.4 even with a 1.99 60' on stock sized bald radials. It MIGHT be better now with the new valvesprings, but it sure doesnt feel like it... I guess the problem is that it's just slow.

Oh and not a lot of money to throw at it, and with 170k miles on the stock transmission and engine, who knows what could go wrong...

EDIT: BTW if any of you guys have the hookup on the good stock header crack repair, let me know... I'm tired of messing with these stupid headers that keep cracking... That's one of my problems...
