I have an 87 regal that I keep tweaking & was all ready to go put & track it when my trans gave out. My question is what is the current hot set up for an affordable converter It will be driven mainly on the street & occasional track use. I have a 9/11 3500 stall that needs to be checked out & could use it. But the damn thing is such heavy reciprocating weight. I know Carrs 9" has always worked well. Although I like the idea of a lock up. I plan on running deep into the 11's reliably So Len,Bruce & Chris your the among the best & I respect your recommendations. So what say you? Regards Lou

lou some qs.maximum engine speed on a 1/2 shift,turbo size,transbrake.
I belive that the stock governor is only capable of 5500
rpm shifts?Havent decided on turbo size yet,as i want to be able to launch @ 32-3500 rpm about 500 hp is my target. Lou

for your targeted performance i would recommend our 10.5 lock up unit.itll allow 3200 to 3400 rpm at 8 to 10psi and be a baby when there is no torque output while cruising at 0 boost.the important thing to remember is that the little v6 has low torque output with no boost and tremendous torque under boost.this being universally accepted conventional converter designs are not applied 100 percent to turbo regal converter selection.the pump, turbine and stator must be carefully "selected and fused "together to achieve good throttle response when low exhaust volume is present to aid in spool up as well as not let the engine overpower the fluid coupling when boost is applied to the converter which will overpower the converter and slice thru the coupling.with our targeted 1/2 ratio change of 5500 rpms you will have 2100 rpms of the engine fat curve to accellerate the car properly as well as arrive at a usable rpm range on the ratio change that is productive to increased accelleration.

Thanks Chris! Very well stated based on my experience. the same can be said for the rest of the combination . It all has to work togather, Cam, headers ,turbo, gearing etc. I'll consider your suggestions, Lou
