Can anyone identify this young snake...was caught in a glue trap in my game room!!
Looks to me like a poisonous type as the head is fairly diamond shaped, and its disinct markings. Not your typical water snake I see all the time... We live on a lake so there's all kinds of creatures around, just not in my house!

Never seen one like that...

Please kill it if it is still alive:eek:

I bet its some type of water snake...but I don't think its poisonous. He has really round eyes.

Rat snake or Corn snake. Mouth too small to have poison ducts for fangs. My mom catches these in her backyard a lot and I take them out by the river and let them go. They may try and bite but they won't hurt you. Their teeth are like the harder part of Velcro. Looks to be a little male too. Name him Chris.

That would be enough to make me crap.....
I don't like snakes at all. Can't help it.

Somewhere there's some irony or poetic justic here. A rat snake got caught in a rat trap and the mice are just snickering.

LOL. On a side note. You had better find out how that snake got into your game room. It would really sux to have one slither up your leg during a poker game or something:p

(georgewe4), I couldn't agree with you more!

probably followed the rats in. don't kill it. let it go outside to eat the rats. if it got in that's the same place the rats are coming in. it's natures orkin man.

My version of

the Orkin man!:D
Meet "Slippery", the black rat snake. He hangs around the shop, and does his best to keep the vermin under control. At about 6', he scares some folks. I think he's a neat animal.
And, NO this is NOT a rubber snake!

You let him stay around on purpose:confused:

You are more of a man than me when it comes to snakes. I am like a little b***h:eek::biggrin: Only good snake is a dead snake. Cats can eat the rats;)

My Dad used to let a king snake live in our shed out back. Kept all the poisonious ones away, had a pond not far and mocassisns would venture over.

Oh noes!

+1 on that! I could see myself underneath a car.... look over and see that. Proably kill myself trying to get out from underneath the car.

Find the shovel Rob!

He would look a lot better with the head laying about 5 feet from the body:D

Absolutely!

We "met" for the first time, while I was leaning on the OHD, talking on the cell. The ladder is resting next to the OHD. He was on his way up the ladder, when I first noticed him. He stayed on the ladder all day.. I left for dinner, and closed the door enuf to keep the 2 legged "vermin" out. He then left, B4 I opened the next Am. I guess he had a "date"!:D
I then saw him and his GF out in the leanto. They set up house in an empty t-400 case.

This is Farley. He and Slippery don't get along, well.
I have to keep a close watch so Farley doesn't have Slippery for a snack.;)
No worries w/ folks poaching fish, or swimming in the lake. :D
Farley just LOVES chicken! I feed him anytime I have some extras...You should see him with a 14# turkey.! [I get out of date stuff from the butcher dept @ the local grocery.]

Animals are neat.. Alot moreso than some people I know!

Only the bad guys....:D
Being in the country has it's benefits.. And detractions.
911?? You ARE kidding, right?? AT LEAST 15 min away, on a good day!
We can't call the local Dunkin Donuts, either! Not 1 within 25 mi!;)

Don't kill that snake.. looks like it has round pupils which means not poisonous. I wish I had a snake around here to hang out around the shop and keep the mice away.

Thanks for the replies, yeah a friend of mine pointed out that the eyes were round which indicated it was not venemous, I did not know that. Now for how it got in..I have no idea, only 3 doors and they all to appear to seal up good on the bottom enough to where he could not have fit in.
May have slipped in from the carport as that door stays open sometimes and I've had 4-5 foot water snakes out there before under the car.
The glue strips are to the catch the brown recluse spiders..those are much more of a pain to deal with than the snakes..gotta love country livin I guess...

He's still on the glue trap, I'll see if I can get him off of it and release him across the street, he can eat the mice that get into the garage over there :)
