Last week I finished most my 87 conversion. I have the 87 ignition module and coil, 87 ECM with stock chip and 87 MAF. The only thing left is the MAT sensor which I hope to have done very soon, but for now the car is running fine (Relatively) with the SES light on.
The only problem I'm running down at this point is a knock issue and a friend thought that since I'm running with SES and code 23 that the car might be in limp mode. Is that correct or how do you tell if it is?
The other question is I'm running with the calpack that came with the 87 ECM. I've read in other postings that it's recommended I switch the calpacks from my 85 to 87 ECM. Is that required? or just when your running the old 85 coil and ignition module?
Here's the weird knonk problem I'm having. I'm crusing at 70 MPH and all the sudden the knock retard climbs to around 10 degrees, I'm not giving any gas at this point, just steady at 70. I let up off the gas and it drops back down to 0. It doen't seem to happen at lower speeds.
I just installed a scanmaster and kind of new to all the readings and what they should be at.
Thanks
