We are installing a stage II on center block with a gear drive. Motor is in and already primed. We tried to drop the cam sensor in but it will not go down. The cam gear is bigger in diameter. We realized that the cam we used is a big bore cam and that the cam gear is probably for a chevrolet 350. It was very difficult to find a cam for the bigger cam bore and was probably run in the Busch series, but they ran a motek system and a dry sump set-up. Do we need to get a smaller cam sensor gear so it will mesh with the cam gear and not cause timing issues? Please help. Thanks

Just a thought

Are you using a stock Buick fuel pump eccentric (spacer). If so and you have it in backwards it will prevent the cam sensor from dropping all the way down.
