About 3 months ago the car got progressivley harder and harder to start durning the course of a day. It would not start and I ended up having to move the cps counter clockwise 1/2" or so, and it ran great again. Fast foward to today.

Was fighting a light throttle bad miss, turned out the cam sensor was out again. I turned it some more and ran ok, but detonated heavily at WOT.

Today I adjust it properly, took the cap off and it looked ok. I set it, and ran and had no detonation and pulled hard all the way on 1 pass. I stopped and turned back to go home, and again the bad miss was present. I'll bet the cam sensor has moved again by its self. Its bolted down tight, but something inside is messed up to have this issue. I'll replace the sensor tomorrow but my curosity has me asking; anyone ever seen this before????????

Thanks,
Bob

When I've heard of guys having that problem, it's been the metal piece on top with the window in it. There is a screw that is supposed to hold it in place, but there is also a locating tang. If the tang gets broken off, even if it is screwed down tight, it will move around like you describe. At least that's what I've heard, never experienced it myself.

I have had the tang break off myself, and have seen a friends TTA do it also. Check it and see if it's broken off.

Aha!!

That makes sense. I brought it back to re-set and found it had moved 1/2" CCW.

I thought it looked like there should be a tang there, sticking up through the opening to secure it in place. Mine is not there, must have broken off. I reset the sensor and really tightened down the screw. I'll just put the new one on tomorrow.

Thanks for the info!

Cam sensor

If the window ring tab is sheared take the CS out and pin the ring to the CS shaft. For some reason I've had 2 shear off. So far pinned one working okay.

Cam sensor

The way I pinned mine was drill a very small hole thru the floor of the window into the shaft of the CS 1/8" deep. I then cut off the drill bit that I used to drill the hole leaving maybe a 1/16" sticking up above the hole. I used Locktite 471 to make sure the "pin" doesn't come out.
