Cam sensor?

I have a ticking sound and I can't tell where it's coming from. It's been doing it for almost a year now and has progressively got worse. It's RPM sensitive. What does the cam sensor sound like when it's going out or hitting the cap?

F.Y.I. It's not the exhaust and I don't think it's a rod. I've ragged on it too hard for the rod not to have gone by now.

The sound is coming from the lower part of the motor and not the valve covers or intake. Could be tranny too.

What are your thoughts?

If it sounds like it's coming from the front center of the engine, it could be that the nylon covering on the stock timing gear on the cam is deteriorating. Do you still have a stock timing set up? If so, if it has over 80 to 100k on it, you are probably living on borrowed time.
