Bought a cam a while back and was wonder which pushrods I should use. I have pushrods from an 82 block and an 87. The cam was bought for my 87 block but it will be going in an 82 instead. I will be using the 8445 heads. from what I read on gnttype.org the pushrod length, cam base circle, and deck height are all different between the two engines. Is this a problem or are the hundrenths of inches not going to bother anything. Getting 82 block back from the shop soon and would like to get started right away.

In my opinion you should use a set of adjustables. It is the best way you can be sure of getting the proper preload set.It is what I used with a similiar set-up and have had good luck.

correct way is to measure with an adjustable pushrod length checker and order the correct pushrods based on that measurement.

either borrow one or buy one.

good luck

dONE some more research. The cam should be applicable to all years. So I should be able to use the stock pushrods with an 82 head gasket with my 8445 heads right? Sounds good to me. Anyone know how much a set of .30 over pistons would be? Does anyone make them or would I have to go with a set of hypers?
