The side that you have laying on the table is supposed to be flat. That mates with the intake side of the exhaust housing, and provides a seal.

I have a NOS Inlet pipe-Turbo Adapter (That part), and upon pulling it out of the box it is 100% flat.

The other side however is not supposed to be flat, because it needs to provide a tight seal with the inlet pipe.

is it supposed to be flat? the one that came off my car had a corner cracked off and was warped even more than this one....this one is off a parts car and is also cracked and warped but not as bad?

is it supposed to be flat?

Howdy Firebird 350, That pot metal seal in no longer available , a felpro 60537 will work, although it is silver colored softer graphite seal and sleeve, the through inside diameter is smaller, but not to worry, the VOLUTE inlet chamber opening to your turbo is ever smaller, not much bigger than 1.5"

I was determined to have that part your are seeking , SO I had one made, well sort of, Here is what I had done,
I had a 1/4" steel flange made fashioned after the footprint of the copper SCE 4172 seal that the 86-87 guys use, then I had a 55MM hole cut in the center of the new steel flnage, then got a 2 1/16" ID carquest conical seal and sleeve put in and the the excess sleeve length sanded down, PERFECT replica, but it cost me $ 180 for two,

THE fel-pro seal (60537) will work fine for about 10 bucks.

THe reason I went to all the expense and trouble to duplicate the pot metal seal, I wanted the Through hole ID as big as the stock seal, the fel-pro is smaller, BUT WHEN i looked at the inside of the turbo, IT DOES NOT MATTER , the ACTUTAL passage way inside the turbo is smaller than the FEL-PRO seal.

THe 1261269 thin metal gasket that goes with the discontinued part IS still available, OF course , NO use to US, but the 86-87 guys use them.

That pot metal seal's discontinued part number is GM 25513239

Maybe you can have your part sanded on the flat side to true it up, if it is not to far gone.

heres a cheap way i did it. at advanced auto in the ricer section they have a bunch of exhaust gaskets. i found a 2 pack of collector gaskets that ar almost identical to the thin metal one and stacked all three of em up and bolted it back together.

Turbo adaptor

The picture is a turbo adaptor that is no longer available.
You can get a used one from Brian Weavy Brian Weavy

Solution #2 modify your pipe to fit without the adaptor. weld a flange to end of the up pipe and bolt with gasket directly to the turbo. All the 2-1/2 and 3" up pipes bolt directly to the turbo without the adaptor.

I've got one of those pot metal seals off mine, not cracked but kinda curls up past the studs but seals well..... All the same if I were U, get the ATR piece. Sooooo much nicer.......my stock up pipe cracked and fried a new set of plug wires. Mine cost under $100, got it from Mike McCoy (musclecarsalvage).........great guy. You will only need a flat copper gasket U get from ATR to use in place of the pot metal one.
