How many 87 Grand Nationals were made in Canada? I have a 40,000 mile GN has a block heater extra under coating and Made in Canada with red maple leaf all over the car. Thanks

To the best of my knowledge none were "made" in Canada.1695 87 Grand Nationals were shipped to Canada. If your car was a Canadian exported car you would have the U12,Dual scale with kilometer odometer, and the Z49 Mandatory Canadian base equipment modifications codes on your SPID label on your trunk lid.Mine is a Canadian car, built in Pontiac michigan. If it were a Canadian car it wouldnt have 40,000 miles. It would be 40,000 Kms.Turbofish is the expert on this board.I'm sure if I have mis-informed you he will chime in to give you the correct info. Dave

It would also have V97 EXPORT PREPARATION.

The VEHICLE EMISSION CONTROL INFORMATION decal on your heater box would be P/N 25530102 (as contrasted to P/N 25529051) and would read:

THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO TRANSPORT CANADA EMISSIONS REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO 1987 MODEL YEAR NEW PASSENGER CARS.

Also:

The K05 ENGINE BLOCK HEATER was available in non-export GNs as well, and was not a mandatory option for export GNs.

Your undercoating is not factory.

Many GN parts were made in Canada - this doesn't imply GNs were assembled in Canada - all were assembled in Pontiac.

Yep, pretty much what has been posted. Just about all of the replacement parts made for these cars, are made in Canada. Somebody just did'nt peel the labels off.

G-bodies were assembled in Ontario and Ste.Therese. Your VIN would start with the number 2 if it was built in Canada. As far as I know all of the turbo cars were built in either Flint MI or Pontiac MI. Even the old carb-turbos. All IC cars were assembled in Pontiac.
