Im having serious boost control problems. I recently added a large front mount intercooler and now im having boost control problems. I didn't have this problem before with the precision stock location. I have an r j c boost control and swap that also swap the actuator and still whatever I do I can't control it. I had a friend bring a smoke machine home and get a smoke test to check to see if there any leaks anywhere and no leaks have been found. boost swings all the way to 25 psi and if I stay in it, it keeps going. I'm all out of ideas what do I do next. I have a terry houston downpipe is it possible do something wrong with the downpipe.

First of all, that's a beautiful engine bay you have!
Was the only change the new front mount? What waste gate are you using?

no, i did a tranny swap, went with a ck, a when the car was apart, i decided to buy a fm, never had this issue, but since im flowing more volume of air maybe thats why, im running the stock actuator with the rjc boost control, no idea whats going on with it, no matter how much i loosen the rod all the way, and dial the boost control all the , it just has no control ....

Did you check all of your vacuum lines. Could one be cracked/dryrotted and when it pulls hard it collapses amd shoots up. I dont know if disconnected lines mean over boost or no boost but its an idea

Busted line means overboost. That's why I had to go through mine last spring, the boost line to the WG can rotted in half. Unlimited boost will hammer the bearings and push the HG's...

i know , went through all vacum lines, found one cracked up by the fire wall, repaired it, but made no diffrence, still getting boost creep... mechanic buddy brought home a smoke machine like i stated, and we found NO smoke coming out of anywhere....... with the actuator rod all the way loosen, and the rjc boost control on weakest setting, still goes to 20psi, then creeps to 25 and beyond..

Check actuator or free movement.Make sure puck is not sticking.Take RJC valve off and take apart and clean.Good luck

did this, with the rod disconnected , downpipe puck moves freely, rjc control is brand new, but took apart anyways, also swapped it with another to be sure, no change..

Could the boost gauge be wrong, seems odd that an intercooler swap would cause this:confused:

can an internal gate and rjc controller tame a 6776?

Probably not. On my little 6262 I had boost creep problems too. Opened up internal bypass hole to the max possible and it solved it...but just barely. The right answer is external WG but that's more $.

Thanks, I knew it was one or the other haha, either way not good

You are not connected to the stock boost solenoid are you?

remove the RJC, and connect the pressure signal hose directly to the actuator. Report back what it does.

how tight is the actuator? If you have a pressure source (compressor, mityvac pump, etc) check to see what pressure the actuator starts to move the puck and make sure there are no leaks.

when i was checking my boost issues i was told to disconnect the waste gate rod and to tie the puck opened to see if i still got boost - basically to make sure that the hole was big enough and not the problem.
